New Definition of Spring Color in Fashion

When you think of a spring color

What comes to your mind?

I used to always think of spring colors as pastels mostly. Or light and bright colors in pink, blue, green, yellow, purple. But this year I have been seeing so many looks that screamed spring and they aren't in the traditional colors. So I started thinking about my choices for spring colors this season.

For instance this spring I have worn camo, dark yellows, and now the look in this post with army green. I think it is fun to take these non-traditional colors and give them a spring twist. I do that by adding floral, checks, bows and more. In my outfit today I knew I wanted to wear these pants. Alone they are not very spring-like except that they are cropped which I consider a spring trend. So I added this light weight floral top. The floral design and the sheer fabric say spring to me. Then to really give it that spring look I add mules with big bows! My orange bag was my choice for this look. The chain strap reminds me of spring as apposed to heavier leather straps.

My look . . .

Sheer floral top, dark green pants, nude mules and an orange bag and tassel earrings.

So to recap. To add spring to my style without necessarily using tradition spring colors.

  • cropped pants

  • floral, checked or striped prints

  • light weight or sheer fabric

  • smaller bags with chain strapes

  • and blows or embellishments on your shoes

  • mules, peep toe, or sandals
