Be You, Do You

the scoop

So after a short break, which to me seemed like a long break, I am back. So much came crashing down over the last week and a half I actually thought I would quit blogging. The death of a sibling, a close family member going through a difficult divorce and a beloved senior pet being sick seemed like a heavy load all in one week. But after thinking about all the work and years I have put into this blog and how much I truly enjoy it, I decided I would get back at it. Plus, you all, dear readers, have been so supportive and kind. You helped lift me up and carried me through. How can I ever thank you?

Now things are back on track and life is humming along. My good friends are coming over for lunch this week and life is looking brighter. I love having my friends over. I am making such a fun lunch with finger sandwiches, three kinds: pimento cheese, cucumber and watercress and for those who like more traditional flavors a chicken sandwich. For sides I am making my grandmothers cornbread salad and hearts of romaine drizzled with French dressing and crumbled blue cheese. We will drink Iced Tea and for dessert I made a pineapple upside down cake. I also got some Macaroons and Snickerdoodles from the bakery to serve.

Canva

I was playing around with an app called canva and found this layout. I loved the caption, be you, do you. It is a good reminder to always do what makes you feel good. If others don't like it, then that's their problem. Anyway, I thought it was a fun layout.

my outfit

This is an older paisley top with lace trim that always makes me think of summertime. I am wearing wide leg jeans with front patch pockets and pair tan mules. I pulled my hem through a belt loop to accentuate my waist. I'm carrying a navy fringe clutch to complete this look. White tassel earrings, a white beaded bracelet and a silver cuff were my jewelry choices.
