The Scoop

Look at me outside taking pictures! Gosh I haven’t ventured out with my camera and tripod of so long. We had lots of rain all night here in Arizona and today is chilly with a bit of breeze. It is so invigorating!

While I was walking to the gym this morning I realized the lighting outside (a bit overcast) would be good for an outdoor shoot so here I am.

Anyway back to the topic of the post. If you follow me you know I am on the never ending quest to be fit and and enjoy the process. I have always been active since a child and at almost 60 I am still very active. I love to be outdoors the most so I walk, hike, run, trail run, fly my kite, walk my dogs, things like that. I also do yoga and all sorts of things to build muscle. I don’t like being in a gym lifting weights unless I can find a fun routine and lately I have been following this fitness trainer on YouTube. Her name is Joanna Soh and she is a wealth of fitness and health information. Right now I am doing her 25 minute total body strength training for women routine. I started out slow with low weights and only doing two sets of 10 reps. I have learned over the years to be careful when starting a new program otherwise I hurt myself and quit. Love this workout though while I watch the TV in the gym. Our gym is in our condo complex so it is easy to get to and usually empty.

When I can’t get to a gym I like this body weight program of hers. Again I am no where near the level she is but I do what I can to switch things up for my muscles.

We all know how important strong muscles and bones are but we don’t always realize how it effects our mind. I feel so wonderful when I feel strong. So much so that I live by the rule,” You can retain what you cannot regain.” That is why I have always, mowed my own lawns, raked my leaves, shoveled snow off the drive depending on where I am when it snows. Every place I live has stairs to climb. I do my own laundry, clean my own homes, carry my own groceries, you get the picture. I was once told by a fitness expert that people get old when they quit doing all the things they did when they were young. So if my husband ever offers to open the jar of pickles, I decline. To this day there has never been a pickle jar I could not open. Future? Fingers and toes crossed.

What do you do to keep strong? I would love to know.

My Look

Here I am wearing a pair of Lulumon leggings ( Align Pant 28” in Formation Camo Deep Coal Multi) , black tank, black jacket and black vest as well as black sneakers and black hat. Layering when it is chilly makes outdoor activities comfortable so you can have fun.

Everything I am wearing is old but I am linking similar options.
