Whew Dodged A Bullet
The Scoop
Hey gang! Well it’s been two weeks since I had out patient surgery to remove Squamous Cell Carcinoma from the right side of my face. Right in the middle of my cheek almost. And although this is a highly treatable cancer and very common I was more than a little nervous. It was very small, barely noticeable but it was there and had to go. All is well now though. I have a small scar and am using a scar cream to help reduce it. But it really doesn’t bother me. Aren’t scars signs of battles won? I have others, including those you don’t see but they make me who I am. I’m grateful that is was nothing more serious.
Now it is time to pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again. I could not excercise for a couple weeks (doctor’s orders) but I am now free to do whatever I feel like. So I started back walking, lifting weights and doing my yoga. And this week I am even doing some running again. It feels so great.
I am having real stomach issues due to the preventative antibiotics they had me take. I didn’t want to but the thought of an infection was more worrisome so I complied. But they stripped out my gut bacteria so I am trying to build that back up. It is sort of a catch 22. Lots of Kefir, Greek Yogurt, fermented food, garlic and vitamin K are helping me rebuild what was lost.
My Look
In these pictures I am showing my “going to my grand daughter’s soccer game” outfit. Ha ha. Halloween shirt and all. This is the most dressed up I have been for several weeks. Further below is my taking a walk look and in one you will see my fabuoous Thanksgiving tree. I decorated it using just things I already had, keeping is simple.
I am not ready for Christmas decorating yet but I love a sparkling tree. So we have the most warm and festive vibe around our home without the full on Chistmas scene. I am sure in a few weeks I will be ready for the Christmas stuff. I don’t do a lot though, mostly a tree and wreaths here and there.
Thanks for stopping by!
Peace!
