Free People Style

The Scoop

Over the years I have learned which brands I tend to gravitate toward. Because I am a child of the 60s and 70s, the bohemian style is one I adore. I like the casual free flowing artistic vibe it exudes. One problem with this brand is that often the clothes are too much for my frame. I look like I am wearing a sack if I don’t select the right things. This brand also runs large so I have to size down most of the time. But I will always love the flower child style.

My Look

I haven’t been shopping much this past year. Since I don’t go out per the CDC guidelines I really only need to dress for around the house. So everything I have on is old but classic to Free People.

I’m wearing Levi’s Wedgie jeans, a Free People thermal tee and a free People crocheted cardigan. My booties are so old I don’t even remember where I got them but I love the open toe look and wear them a lot. Plus the are comfy for a little bit of a heel. I think the chunky heel is what makes them so comfortable and easy to walk in. My bag is also old but I did just get the fun guitar strap.

The guitar strap is such an inexpensive and fun way to change out an old bag and add detail to a look. And you can use it on multiple bags so mixing and matching is easy. My pretty leather bag is a local thrift find from right here in Arizona.

My Hair

I have been trying to just air dry my hair lately so it always looks like I didn’t do anything with it. Which I guess is true. Ha ha. Since I can’t go to a stylist I am letting it grow and really want to keep it healthy so I am trying to cut down on styling tools that use heat. But isn’t messy hair part of real life right now?

And My Wrinkles

My wrinkles are part of real life too. And I don’t mind. I don’t use anything to prevent them although I have tried a few things over the years. At the end of the day I am the age I am. I am healthy and this is how I look. It breaks my heart to see how the media sends us nonstop messages for getting rid of wrinkles. It’s sad how they make us feel less because we don’t want or don’t have the resources to not have them. Wouldn’t be wonderful if we could all feel beautiful with our wrinkles?

I always tell people that I never remember once looking at my grandmothers or mother and seeing wrinkles. Never. I only saw beautiful women with hearts of gold. That is the way we should truly see women at any stage of life. Right?
