Spring Style in the Mountains

My Look

I am doing things a little out of order in this post. I wanted to share some of the house and why I love it, so I will do my outfit first and then move to The Scoop.

I’m wearing my favorite skinny jeans, a cabi brand jacket purchased at a consignment store many years ago. It has so many cute details. I wore it as a top since it was cold and I just loved the cut with these jeans. I wore the must have heels of all time. A pair of nude pumps are the perfect shoes for almost any outfit. I love how they blend in and elongate your silhouette.

I am obsessed with this chunky necklace that I got last month. I break the rules as they say a women of a certain age should not wear a necklace that draws attention to her old neck. Ha! Give me a break. I actually believed that for a while. But then I realized I should please my eye, not others’. You have to look very close to see my fun colorful earrings (old Bauble Bar). They were my way of adding some excitement to this look. And finally I carried my leopard bag that is several years old but never goes out of style.

You see how most everything I am wearing is old, reused, a basic that never goes out of style? It’s such an amazing concept that I love.

I’m wearing a cabi brand white denim jacket purchased at a consignment store as my top. Poshmark is great place to look for the brand too. I’m linking some distinctive jackets that I would also wear as a top in spring.

My pumps are Nine West on sale at Macy’s, I linked them as well as options that are really pretty. I always size up half a size in pumps and find them much more comfortable. I adore the pointy toe, the pointier the better! Ha ha!

My jeans are 501 skinnies from Revolve. They deliver so fast. I also found them at Nordstrom. I’m linking my Clare V. leopard bag that I have had for years. It is such a classic they bring it back year after year. Linking cute bag options too. Linking my exact necklace which I am loving with everything right now.

The Scoop

Here we are doing the fist post from the mountains in 2021. It was a cold (high 40s, low 20s) day on the day I took these pictures. This kind of weather can send me to Gloomsville unless I really control my environment and structure my day. I talked about how I do that in my last newsletter but today was a perfect example of how I do it and how it works.

I could have stayed in my pjs all day long. Nothing about the weather was motivating me. It is not spring-like here yet. Instead, I got up and picked out my outfit for the day and went full on with hair and make up. I felt so much better for doing so too!

It was so fun to take pictures here in the mountains again. Most of my blog pictures have been taken here. I still remember the fist ones. They were really rough. But oh how I have learned to do a little better but also to accept my level of skill and be happy!

I used to hate every picture I took and now I think oh well, my gang doesn’t care, they just want to enjoy some light hearted fashion and lifestyle, to take a break from the world’s woes.

Where am I?

So this is my office. It’s connected to our media room where we watch TV and listen to music. This is not a typical blogger’s office but it reflects my personality a lot. It’s eclectic, filled with things we have collected over time. Our vintage pin ball machine, my fly fishing tapestry chair that was a thrift find. An old desk that is ancient but does the job. I picked out the wall color and drapes myself because in a cold climate they made me feel warm and cozy.

Below is the media room, again warm and cozy and eclectic. Sometimes I think about changing things but this just feels like home. That’s a giant dark green leather sectional that holds a queen size sofa bed for when we have lots of guests and need more sleeping space.

This is our great room and my favorite spot of the house. This amazing fireplace is one of a kind. A local artist carved and patinaed the steel surface. I grew up riding and showing horses so this is special to me. Our coffee table and side tables are also one of a kind, made just for this space.

More of the great room and entry.

Below is part of the great room also. It is the bar area. We have different levels all through the house. The bar is lower and has a grill and refrigerator and we put our piano over here for entertainment. We often hire a local pianist to play for parties. We have such wonderful memories of times with friends and family. We have a hidden wine room that is also a safe room. No one knows where it is or the code to get in and out but us. It’s just a fun little part of our home.

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace!
