Skirt Flirtin'

The Scoop

It’s the time of year when I am ready to start wearing maxi skirts and dresses. Over the years the number of maxi skirts I have in my closet has dwindled down to this one. I have lots of maxi dresses though.

I just start feeling more relaxed and easy as the weather warms up and that calls for relaxed but chic outfits. This look is about as relaxed and basic as one can get.

My Look

Everything here is old except my sandals which I got earlier this spring. I don’t know where I got this skirt but it is several years old. It is a knit fabric so very comfortable and it just pulls on. I love the blues in it and I am sure that is one of the reasons I bought it. I am wearing a simple white button down shirt bought at the Loft several years ago and my newer sandals from Nordstrom. My clutch is also old but you see it all the time on my blog.

I used the J. Crew cuff on my sleeves, it is almost the only way I roll up sleeves anymore. I love the casual look and they hold really well. Here is a YouTube video that shows how to do it. It’s less than 30 seconds long.

Create Your Own Look

First I’m linking some pretty skirt options and my go to bracelets this spring. I’m not going to try to link shirts because I think most everyone has those in their closets.

Next I’m linking my exact sandals in assorted colors. I was asked if these sandals are comfortable and at the time I hadn’t worn them enough to say. I can now say they have adjusted to my feet and are quite comfortable. I am really thinking about the two toned pair for my closet.

Here are some similar clutches. Like I said I have had mine for years and use it all spring and summer.

Makeup

More people are asking me about what makeup I wear. I don’t use much but do have more fun with makeup than at any other time in my life.

If you feel like it’s too complicated my advice is, it’s not! Play with it a little each day and you will develop your personal techniques. You just want to look like you, only better! Don’t think you have to have thick eyebrows or full lips or lashes to your hair line. Truly beauty is individual. I have never plucked an eye brow in my life. I have eye brows but they are just really blonde. I rarely even use a brow pencil because blonde brows is who I am. I have thinner lips and yes that is my face. And I am happy with it.

I have a few YouTubers I follow that have taught me amazing things about makeup for the mature woman. I have picked up at least four major technique’s from four different YouTubers/bloggers that I have made my own. It’s truly a fun and creative outlet!

My exact makeup.

  • BB cream in light/medium I only cover spots (used this for years and always go back after trying hundreds of things) has SPF

  • Tinted sun screen does the rest of my face

  • Lip liner in Soar (goes with everything sort of a nude)

  • Mascara black (favorite for years)

  • Lipstick (pink peonies also favorite for years)

  • Wild West shadow (obsessed recent find)

  • Whiskey Liner ( most loved liner ever, a recent find).

  • Bronzer, blush, highlighter palette, medium bronze, soft gold, classic pink ( used for years and always go back after trying other things)
