The Scoop

Putting on all black can feel sort of blah sometimes. But it is amazing how just adding one element of rich color can make it look fabulous!

The way I think about color has completely changed. I grew up thinking you couldn’t put certain colors together like red with pink or blue with green and even black with brown. But now my mind craves seeing those colors together. My latest obsession is forest green with bright pink. I have a look coming soon.

My rule for adding interest to my outfits is to wear any color together that makes me smile. I sort of have a rule for color and texture though. If I put together two bright colors then I keep the texture the same.

If I want texture to be the interest of my look, I keep the bright colors down to one or stay more neutral. Like in this look, I have a black leather top (texture) with black fabric pants (keeping it neutral) and then I added a strong pink shoe. That is all this looks needs to tell a story. First to be noticed is the bright color, next is the subtle texture.

My Look

I am wearing a faux leather body suit with wide leg slacks, a bell sleeve cardigan and a leopard bag. I consider this to all be neutrals. Then I added my pink pumps as the star of the show!

My cardi is several years old as is my bag. The pants are newer although I have a pair just like them from last winter. They are a staple in my mind. My shoes are from last spring and my top is from early this fall. My necklace is old from J. Crew.

I really need to stop wearing my Apple Watch when I dress up. But I get so many steps in when I do a photo shoot! It sure isn’t very pretty with this outfit.
