Move It Or Lose It Do Over 2023

The Scoop

2023 started out with me under a big cloud. But now that I have a clean bill of health I am back on track. I’m hitting the ground running figuratively. I’m leaving the stress and the bad things it was doing to my body behind me and soaking up every little moment of joy the simple things in life have to offer.

Week By Week

I have always told you that I change my fitness routine all the time. Luckily the experts say that is a good idea. Keep your body guessing so it is prepared for any activity.

This past week I wanted to really focus on putting healthy foods in my body. After the last couple of months of stress, I lost weight fast and it took a toll on me. I can see I lost muscle and started to feel frail, my biggest fear.

I made a list of things to put into my body daily. Not everything on the list every single day but as much as I can fit in without feeling too full. I eat other things too but these are first. I try to not eat any sugar (we have none in the house). I cut way back on breads but if I do eat bread, it is a whole grain. Dave’s Killer Bread is about all I use. Here is my current list.

  • Berries

  • Greek Yogurt (plain)

  • Coffee

  • Ginger (tea form and fresh in smoothies)

  • Sea Salt, just a pinch or two a day

  • Chia Seeds

  • Cheese

  • Beef or Chicken (Orgainic Grass Fed)

  • Protien Whey

  • Eggs

  • Avacado

  • Oatmeal

I realized lately that I eat when I am not hungry so I really have started to think about if I am hungry before I eat. I also stay in touch with when I feel full. I have found I feel much better when I don’t eat too much. The effects of getting too full are immediate and last for hours.

This week I ate at around 10 to 11 AM and then around 4 to 5 PM, ending my night with a cup of ginger tea. Linking bread and tea below.

Exercise

I didn’t exercise at all for a couple of weeks so started back slowly. I notice it takes less time to lose gains than it takes to make gains in strength and endurance. It also takes more time to recover from workouts than it used to. This is all normal as we age so we must workout smarter not necessarily harder. Like my husband always says, “You can retain what you cannot regain.” Thus, my motto, “Use it or lost it.” Here’s what I’ve been doing.

  • I walk my dogs a half mile each on separate walks every day, often twice a day.

  • I take a brisk walk for another one and half miles every other day. I plan to work that up to three miles.

  • I do yoga every other day for flexibility, balance, strength and breath work. (30 minutes)

  • I do weight bearing exercises right after yoga. Low weights and slow repetitions. (20 minutes)

  • I move around all day, every day. I park as far away from any place I go to increase movement.

Skin Care

I signed up for Curology (not sponsored) a skin care regimen that several Vloggers I follow have used for years and love. I have always been a keep it simple girl using Olay products. I decided it’s time to try something new. I am even considering going for the lowest dose of Botox for the vertical lines between my eyes. Not sure yet but the wheels are turning.

I am back to using my body lotion every single night as I stopped using it regularly for several months and the decline in the look of my skin was very significant. I also added a body wash and a new sunscreen. I am really determined to take better care of the largest organ of the body, my skin! Also, I haven’t whitened my teeth for a year or more and it was showing. So, I started a round of whitening. I always use Crest.

I have used this body lotion for a few years now and I have it on auto delivery because I never want to be without it. Links below.

I stream my yoga classes in my bedroom.

I’m picking up a couple of new swim suits for this summer along with some really fun workout wear that has amazing reviews to keep me motivated.

Swimsuits with long sleeves are my new thing, I love them. I ordered the two linked below.

Here is all the workout wear I ordered for this year. Everything has tons of great reviews. I will wear the long tank under the cropped tops because I love the look. Linking my picks below.

Linking my exact Apple watch. I have used an apple watch for several years and never go without it. I am also linking some fitness accessories on the way to my door.

My smoothie ingredients.

Linking the protien powders I use. I am out of the MP now so we got the Gold Standard this time around.

It doesn’t get more delicious that this!

Ok, now let me know what you are doing to stay fit and strong. I love to try new ideas!

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace!
