Story Of A Statement Wall Home Decor Over 50 2023

The Scoop

We got this house in November 2021 and I have always wanted to do something to the fireplace wall to make is stand out more. The room is very large with very high ceilings and it felt lopsided to me, or bottom heavy. Unbalanced to say the least.

I have painted a lot of walls over the years but rarely over 9-foot-high walls. This summer at our summer house, I painted some 10-foot walls and had success. So, I decided maybe I could do these 12 -foot-walls.

My husband was on board and such a great help. At one point he had to do some of the painting because I got so tired. I did all the taping though which is no big deal for me now that I have done it so much. But it was up high, a fun challenge! The whole project took two partial days.

The Color Choice

The final color was picked out by my husband. He is very good with final color choices. I described to him the color I wanted and gave him three samples and this is the one he picked. We absolutely love it on the wall. It changes color throughout the day as the sun moves east to west.

Oh The Difference

You can see the mood change with the color change. See the difference between pictures before painting? It is easier now for me to get pictures of my outfits to stand out. So, so happy!

Moody Vibes

We enjoy our space so much more now. You just relax as you sit in the room and look out over the mountains behind our house.

Here is what I used.
