Upstairs June 2023

Upstairs Family Room: Sofa new, coffee table (we refinished) was from a thrift shop. Tray yard sale, candle and plant Marshals. Throw Target.

The Scoop

We bought this house last fall. We lived in Idaho for years (my husband was born and raised in Idaho) and were at a point in our lives where we wanted to down size. So, we sold our larger homes and got a smaller home in Arizona near our kids and grandkids and then this one for summers where it would be in a better climate. Our kids and grandkids come for visits in the summer so we get to see them all year around.

When we got to this house in May it was almost empty and we had guests arriving early June. So, I had to get busy and get it furnished and stocked.

I didn’t want to fill it with all new things. I love the interest old pieces bring to décor. Plus, I didn’t feel like I wanted to add more things to the planet. Searching, using and reusing is fun for me, and I do it whenever I can.

This is a post to show you how I mixed new and old to create a comfortable and interesting space. Over time I will replace the carpet, probably paint and continue to tweak the decor but I got this done in a month and everyone seemed completely happy with it!

Upstairs Family Room: This chair, like new was from a thrift shop. The side table (we refinishded) was from a yard sale. I have since switched out the lamp to a much cuter one. The piece of pottery was also from a yard sale. Greenery from Marshals.

Upstairs Family Room: This group of framed prints were purchased at a yard sale. They show the seasons of Idaho.

Upstairs Family Room: This little drop leaf table was found at an estate sale. Popcorm popper we had and it has a long history behind it.

Upstairs Guest Room: The bed is new. The side tables were found at a yard sale and I repainted them and put new knobs on them. I have since added picures above the bed. The bedding was from Overstock.com. Lanps Marshals.

Upstairs Guest Room: The chair and table are new. The picture was from a yard sale. That is my husbands guitar case. Flowers from Marshals.

Upstairs Guest Room: This shelf was from my dad. The items on top were from a thrift shop. The blanket is one I had.

The picture has all the print information on the back. It is a limited printing that I am not familiar with.

Upstairs Guest Room for grandkids: Twin beds are new, bedding from Costco. The table was found at a yard sale and I painted it. The picture was from a yard sale, still new with the tag from Pottery Barn.

Upstairs Guest Room for grandkids: Lunch box (1960) was from a yard sale, the orginal owner. I thought it was fun because it was from the year I was born. Table is old one we had (will change that out at some point). The runner was embroidered by my grand mother.

Upstairs Guest Room for grandkids: This chair was from a thirft shop. Lamp thrifted.

I will do our downstairs soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Peace!
