Denim on Denim Fashion Over 50
The Scoop
I hear often from women of all ages saying they are not read to dress like an old lady. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I think I am old, if not I at least I have one foot in the door. I suppose it is relative. Some women are more into fashion than others, true. And yes, our sense of style is varied. But sometimes I think dressing old is more about feeling old. And some days I feel very old.
I have an aunt who is turning 90 this year and she is the epitome of stylish. I am always in awe of her good taste but touch of updated style. However one wants to dress is of no concern to me. But I do understand how we as women don’t want to fade into the background. And I think that is what society has expected of us for a long as we have been on earth.
Just because our kids are grown and we are not doing 20 jobs at one time doesn’t mean we don’t deserve the attention and respect of those following in our footsteps. I am proud to pave the way for other women. I have been there and done that and lived to tell the story. Respect is a given not an afterthought.
Meanwhile dress the way that makes you happy. When you are happy those around you will be happy. Spread the joy.
My Look
I am wearing an all denim look which some love and some hate. My rule for myself is if I am wearing all denim, I go with a light piece and dark piece so I don’t look like I am trying to match.
For this outfit I wore a lighter denim shirt(Old Navy), and a pair of really dark wash jeans. I pulled out a pair of mules (Sam Edelman) that I have had for years and my LV GM Tote. My necklace is my oldest piece of jewelry which you would have seen over and over if you followed me for long. It is a one of a kind designed in a little boutique in Missouri where I was raised. My bracelets and earrings are from Mazatlan, MX years ago.
Still sporting the pig tails. They are my favorite way to wear my hair when it is this length.

Linking same jeans and similar shirt. And some shoe and bag options.
I am thinking this look would be way cute with flats. I am going to start trying out more flats for my looks. I think my knees and hips will thank me. A lovely reader put the bug in my ear and she is right. Even though heels are cute and fun they are (if worn too much) hard on the body and maybe even a little dangerous. And as fun as living dangerously sounds I don’t think broken bones fall in that category! Ha ha!
