Move It or Lose It Spring 2024
The Scoop
I wanted to touch base with you regarding my fitness journey. There is not a lot new to report, only that I am still moving as much as possible. I walk mostly these days with strength training and yoga and even zone-two runs sprinkled in each week.
Zone two exercise is all the rage right now, supposedly extremely important to health and longevity. It is hard for me because I can’t walk fast enough to get into zone two. That comes from years of running and a healthy heart. So, I must run slowly to get in the zone. I work toward a heart rate of 110 give or take. Everyone’s zone two is individual based on size, age and fitness level.
I have been doing intense home projects this spring. You will see me moving large as well as small furniture along with carrying ladders all over the house inside and out. Most days at the end of the day I am extremely tired and sore. I have been painting walls and organizing closets and cabinets. These projects require me to lift heavy, squat often, reach and stretch and climb up and down stairs and ladders. It is part of what I consider my workouts. I make myself go out and wander around the thrift shops to take a break, otherwise I can’t stop. When I complete everything, I will go back to my more formal strength training and yoga.
This is checkup season for me. I get all my annual checkups done in May and June. My dentist said my teeth were great and the eye doctor was impressed that my vision was exactly as it was at my last checkup. With contacts she can still correct me to 20/20 vision! Yay! Next up is my annual health and preventative checks. I get a mammogram each year as well as blood work checking all the things! Ha Ha. Lastly, I get a dermatology check making sure there is no skin cancer lurking. Then I am good for the year! Fingers crossed! I am a true believer in an ounce of prevention!
My Look
I found these very cute shorts at H&M. I got them in gray too. They are so comfy and I love the longer inseam. My top is Carhartt I got them at Fred Meyer. It is a really nice quality and comfortable so I got it in three colors. My sneakers are Niki and my belt bag is from Amazon. This is great look for my everyday lifestyle of never ending projects.
