Elegant Casual Style For Summer

Dusters

they can add drama to an outfit.

The Scoop

This spring and summer my attention has mostly been directed at decorating our house. So, the blog and newsletters have taken a back seat. I try to spend more time doing things I love and getting the house cozy and feeling like home is something I am almost obsessed with doing.

We have had this house two summers now and most of the main living areas are beautiful hard wood or custom installed travertine tile. The tile work is simply art and I love it. The carpets however in the bedrooms was original to the house so very old and really shot. So, this spring we replaced it all. What a difference, it really refreshed the whole house.

I have painted several accent walls myself which has added a great deal of my personal style to the place. I have also spent a lot of time at consignment shops, antique stores, thrift shops and yard sales looking for original things to surround us. It’s been a journey of love and appreciation.

are a basic for any season and perfect for layering.

My Look

I’m wearing a pair of wide leg jeans (Target, love so much I have them in a darker wash also) in a light wash with a neutral tank (Kolhs)and a pair of low heel clear sandals (Amazon). I added a couple of wooden bead neclaces (Thrifted) and wicker earrings (Amazon). My belt is a snake skin print in soft neutral colors (Nordstrom, old).

I wanted to add drama to this look so I added a duster (Nordstrom, old). I carried a neutral tote (Vince Camuto)to complete my look. I love this tote and have it in two colors/patterns. I am thinking I really want the blue linked below!
