Fit in the Fall Fitness Over 60

The journey continues . . .

What I’m doing lately to stay fit.

The Scoop

My fitness journey has had bumps in the road over the years but thankfully they have all been learning experiences and nothing too life changing.

The last few months since I have gotten my HRT dosage where it works for me, I have been feeling big changes. A few months ago, I was so depressed. I was having trouble bending my knees to do yoga, my left hip hurt causing me to wake up in the night with pain and my passion for life was the lowest I had ever experienced. I had many other symptoms but these were the most concerning to me.

Over time I have felt things return to more normal. My pain is 95% gone. I am flexible again and able to do advance yoga practice and I sleep through the night like a baby. I also feel a glimmer of excitement about life again. Being mobile is everything to me. If you have been a reader over the years, you know why.

My current fitness routine is weight lifting twice a week. Runs that include cardio in zones 1 - 5 twice a week, Yoga three to five times a week and walks almost daily. I feel the normal soreness that comes with working out but not the pain that I did have where I thought I was going to have to live with it the rest of my life.

I am trying to get more protein (90 grams a day for me) in my diet to keep up with the demands on my muscles and I am trying to get a balanced diet that is whole foods and nothing processed.

My fitness journey is fluid and ever changing. Partly because I get bored easily and because the body likes change.

My Look

I’m wearing all old things but I love to wear color and texture even when I am just exercising. It’s been cooler in the mornings, low 50s so I layer up! It is fabulous to see the leaves on the trees change color and float down to the ground as I walk or run. I am in my element in those moments.

I hope you are enjoying your fitness journey! Thank you for stopping by the blog!

Peace!
