Sometimes It's The View

The Scoop

In my last post I shared that we are selling our mountain home of 17 years. I will talking a lot this summer about our house here in the mountains. I want to share some of the things I love the most about spending time here. One is the fact that I can go out any of my doors and walk right into the forest. I love the pine scent, all the green and all the pretty flowers and plants. Lately I have been scouting out mushrooms. I always talk about how I love Morel mushrooms and hunting for them on my trails in the forest. This year is no different. It is still early but I am already watching for them in my favorite spots. Many spring mornings we have fresh morels for breakfast that I picked that morning. I also love to make Morel pizzas! I get excited just thinking about it.

You can read this post for more about the mushrooms. Or you can search Morels on my blog to see other tidbits on mushroom hunting.

My Look

I wearing old things mostly. Gap jeans, Madewell top, Michael Kors wedges and carrying an old straw bag. I got my hat this winter while staying in Arizona. It is from Nordstrom.

A little tip. We have been taking social distancing very seriously. My husband is high risk after having pneumonia a couple of times in the past and I guess due to my age, I am higher risk. But we also take it seriously out of respect for others. So we mostly stay home and if we have to go out and will be around anyone we wear masks. One way I keep a mask handy is by tying a bandanna on my bag. It is decorative and if I need a mask in a pinch I just tie it on.

Front Porch

This is our front porch. I gave so many memories of sitting here with a glass of wine in the evening watching my puppies chase squirrels or just relaxing in the sun. Many times we sat here with family and friends taking in the beauty of the forest and the mountain air.

One Of A Kind

I mentioned before we are selling the house furnished. The coffee table in this room was built just for this house by a local artist. It is signed by the artist and we have a matching side table too. The rug is Karastan and the furniture is made of Italian leather.

But The View

But the view is the most amazing part of this home. Large floor to ceiling windows run along the whole back and over looks acres of forest. The winter scene is breath taking. The floors are all flagstone with built in heat so the house is always cozy. The home as air conditioning but we have never had to use it. The architects made sure to build the house so that in the winter the when the sun was lower in the sky it shines in the windows and heats up the stone floors keeping the great room around 70 degrees on a sunny day. And in the summer when the sun is higher in the sky it never shines in the windows so the house stays nice a cool. It is an amazing structure architecturally.

Below is the dining room side of the great room. We can easily sit ten people here.
