Move It or Lose It January 2025
The Scoop
Another month in the life has gone by. Sharing my fitness journey with you helps me evaluate what I am doing and what I want to do next.
I love it when you share your journey with me and other readers so feel free to let us know how things are going in the comments!
I have been doing all sorts of things exercise or movement related. Mostly yoga and weight lifting. Recently I started doing short runs to add back some cardio as I had gotten away from getting my heart pumping enough.
Right now, I do yoga and upper body weights on day one, run day two, yoga and lower body on day three. Day four I start over unless I am feeling the need to recover more. Then I take the day off from traditional working out. But I do try to get in lots of movement via walking or working in the yard or around the house, errands, etc.
It has been fairly easy for me to stick to the routine because I am a morning person and it is almost the first thing, I do each day. If I take the 45 minutes it takes me to do everything, first thing then it is behind me and I don’t even think about it the rest of the day. Unless I am sore, which I usually am. Haha!
One of my motivators each day is reading Arnold’s Pump Club email. I signed up for the free daily email and it is insightful and uplifting. I will link it here. Today’s email talked about the following things.
Today’s Health Upgrade
Your coffee routine matters more than you think
How the focus principle applies to business
Burn more fat, gain more muscle
What do you want your life to look like?
I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about my diet, that is coming up in February, I think. I played around in December and lost six pounds but then during the holidays I went off track like a drunken sailor! So, as I say it’s a journey. I do however always eat healthy first. Treats are kept as minimal as possible. I successfully completed Dry January except for one dinner out. It was Italian and they had Chianti pairing I could not pass up. But it was just a half a glass. Drinking is close to a thing of the past in my life.
One of the things I do to make my diet a little healthier is to make my own sourdough bread. I know not everyone wants or has the time to do that. But for me it is kind of fun and studies show it is a much healthier way to have bread. It is GOOD for gut bacteria according to the latest research. So much junk is put into store bought bread it is scary. Other countries don’t even allow some of the stuff that is put in ours. Even if you think you are getting a healthy bread you most likely are not.
Most sourdough bread on the grocery store shelves are not even real sourdough. I don’t know how they get away with it. When I don’t have time to make my own though I have found a brand that is very good. The Rustik Oven-Bold California Sourdough Bread. They use real starter.
My Look
Wearing old yoga pants and jacket. I usually work our bare footed inside so there you go. Ha ha
Linking same pants in navy and same jacket that comes in tons of colors. I size up one in the pants. The jacket is true to size so is fitted. Size up if you want a loser fit.
Below you can see my latest batch of starter. I have such good luck here in AZ. This is just a week and a half old and already needs to be fed twice a day. I used the throw away to make amazing scones. Here is the recipe. There is no sugar in these, just maple syrup. So, they are not real sweet. I make mine with apples and peaches too. My favorite is the peach. Here is my starter recipe. It’s so simple.
Thanks for stopping by!
Peace!
